The cherry piece is finally ready to mount.

Its taken a lot of patience and experimentation but the cherry wall hanging is finally ready to go on the wall! The scale of the piece meant i had to think more logically about how to construct the piece so that it was safe to be hung on the wall and able to be transported safely. This prompted me to think about each piece separately and devise a way of being able to attach and detach the pieces when needed.

This was the sample that i settled on as being the most effective but it needed some aesthetic tweaking. . . .

I replaced the threaded bar with solid clear perspex rod and cut the thread myself.

This means that the pieces of bar that are showing do not stand out and don't distract the viewer from the wood.

Below are all the pieces ready and waiting to be mounted on the board, it took a long time to get to this stage.

Here are a few pictures of what they look like on the board. Now all that's left to do is to get it on the wall somewhere.

I believe there is a perfect harmony between minimalist and natural sculpture in this piece, i cant wait to get some feedback and see what people think.

One friend said that the piece looks skeletal, like a backbone, and the technical demonstrator said that it reminded him of horse hoof prints. This is another example of what i was saying in a previous post, people easily relate things to my pieces and see things within them, but its strange that it always seem to be something natural.

This is my friends attempt at photographing the piece from a distance. Well, stood on a table.
