I spent most of last week setting up the end of year degree show. It was pretty stressful but we got there in the end.
Here's my space first thing in the morning once I brought my pieces in. I had four boards to fill so I got cracking.
The first piece to go up was the largest cherry wall hanging. I am so happy with how it looks now its on the wall, the shadows it casts are beautiful and they help fill the wall so it doesn't look sparse.
Once that piece was up it was used to govern where the others went. It gave me the right level for the bog oak piece and allowed me to see where the freestanding pieces could be placed.
Here's the other wall with the bog oak and cherry cross section wall hangings. I was worried that this wall would be too busy compared to the other but the carvings split the space and balance the whole corner.
I staggered the free standing blackthorn sculptures with the hanging piece to echo the forest and the idea of growth.
I just need to paint the bases and sub the wire for fishing line on the hanging piece.
The cherry cross section wall hanging on the wall, it just fits.
The bog oak piece up on the wall, it also casts amazing linear shadows that highlight the precise cuts.
