Laminated plywood sculpture.


 This is an older piece  i created that shows how the arbortech can be used to create complex shapes. It was an attempt at producing a piece which is the opposite of what i usually create. Instead of applying a rigid formal pattern to natural material, here i was creating a flowing form using machined material.


I glued together sixty squares of ply to form one solid block.


 I then carved into the ply using an angle grinder attachment with chainsaw teeth. It is so much fun to carve using this tool and this work helped me get my head around how best to use it.



You can start to see some of the form coming through.




Here are the pieces sanded off, the closest is finished with tung oil.
