Wood Piles.

After just posting about Alastair Heseltine and his firewood sculpture i found more photos of artwork that share similar qualities.

Scale is something i want to explore more in the future. The colour is a bit bold for me but without it i don't think the piece would have anything going for it.

The idea of a piece being free standing with no fixings is quite an exciting concept to me. With separate components there is endless variations of compositions that could take my work in a new direction.

Here is a good example of how the natural aesthetic qualities of wood can be manipulated to create a stylish, sleek, modern piece of functional furniture. It is the combination of great design skill and woodworking technique.

Im not even sure if this was created as a piece of art but either way it gives me great inspiration for wall hangings.
