I finished the Flowing pine piece I have been working on for the past couple of days in the workshop today. It wasn't without its complications but its there. With a bit of refinement this could be a stunning piece. I will make another with a few small alterations in the future to iron out the mistakes.
I posted previously when I was carving the shape and burning the surface. This is the next stage, slicing and mounting onto the bar.
I tried to make the cuts look random but work in harmony with each other. Some curves go away from one another but there isn't any huge gaps or tight spaces between the cuts.
This is the piece threaded onto the bar, the pieces are loose and can be twisted to create a sharper or straighter curve.
Once the desired curve is created I will tighten the whole piece together making it rigid and more structurally sound.
I have put a fixing on one end to hang the piece from and a fixing at the other to tighten it all up.
