I had a day dedicated to photographing my work yesterday. I was hoping to get it all photographed in one morning but photography is not easy!
For someone with no experience i don't think i did too badly.
These photos are for a portfolio that i am compiling. I want to show the raw material i use, where i find it and the processes and techniques i use when making. I want to illustrate the journey of the sculptures.
Driftwood that has whitened from the salt water and sun.
Bog oak that I dragged out of a local pond. There is incredible detail on the surface where it has been eaten by blood worms, the cracks have widened from the water, there is rust color where the wood has been sat on iron stone. . . .
Natural processes have sculpted this wood over time.
Here are some of my pieces.
Sliced sweet chestnut. I'm looking forward to experimenting with different woods and scale of these pieces in the future.
Man made flowing ply forms.
Bog oak twist. This was made using another piece of bog oak from the local pond.
Charred chestnut root. A root cut from a chestnut root ball.
